U.S Embassy Job Recruitment

1)  FAC Janitor/Gardener supervisor

Location: Abuja

Deadline: 15th October 2018

Work Duration: Full Time

Duties: 

  • The incumbent supervises work and performance of a workforce of 7 gardeners and 22 janitors in cleaning and maintaining the U.S. Embassy Compound
  • S/he prioritizes and assigns work gives instructions and provides training to janitors and gardeners to ensure that all tasks are completed satisfactorily
  • The incumbent reports directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education:

  • Completion of Secondary School Education is required.

Experience:

  • Four (4) years’ experience in both janitorial and landscaping/gardening services, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Must be familiar with the theories and practices of landscaping and janitorial services
  • Must be familiar with how to organize and plan the tasks of a multi-talented workforce.

Evaluations:

  • Language: English Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required

2) Residential Janitor/Gardener supervisor:

Location: Abuja

Deadline: 15th October 2018.

Slot: 2 Openings

Duration Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of the probationary period
The work schedule for this position is: Full time (40 hours per week)

Duties

  • The incumbent supervises work and performance of a workforce of 12 gardeners and 3 janitors in cleaning and maintaining the U.S. Embassy Residential Compounds.
  • S/he prioritizes and assigns works gives instructions and provides training to janitors and gardeners to ensure that all tasks are completed satisfactorily.
  • The incumbent reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations 

  • Education: Completion of Secondary School education is required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Four (4) years’ experience in both janitorial and landscaping/gardening services, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.

3.) Commercial Assistant

Location: Lagos

Deadline: 10th October 2018.

Duration Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of the probationary period
The work schedule for this position is: Full time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

  • The incumbent supports a range of Commercial Service (CS) programs and activities, especially CS Nigeria marketing, Networking with USA (NUSA) program and core CS services such as International Company Profile (ICP), Gold Key Services (GKS), and International Partners Search (IPS), as well as trade missions and trade promotion events where the incumbent is responsible for promoting assigned sectors on a national basis.
  • S/he counsels and assists U.S. firms with marketing strategies; monitors and reports trade opportunities; plans, organizes, implements and supports trade events; researches market trends; and serves on relevant Commercial Service (CS) industry Teams.
  • S/he serves as Marketing Lead for CS Nigeria creates content for press releases, newsletters, websites, outreach campaigns, social media, and Commercial Officer speeches.
  • In addition, the incumbent also serves as office Systems Administrator and webmaster to manage, utilize and upkeep all information and communications systems for CS Lagos and supports communication efforts for CS West Africa region.

Qualifications and Evaluations 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Information Technology, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Mass Communication or International Trade is required.

Requirements

  • Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience in business, government or non-government Organization (NGOs) in the field of marketing, trade promotion, economics, accounting, international trade or similar field is required.
  • Job Knowledge: Basic knowledge of local business firms, trade practices, restrictions, organizations, and customs; of marketing and sales technique of assigned industries and their potential for U.S. businesses and knowledge of business due to diligence investigations.

Evaluations:

  • Language: English Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.

4.) FAC Gardener Supervisor

Location: Lagos

Deadline: 17th October 2018

Duration Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of the probationary period
The work schedule for this position is: Full time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

  • The incumbent is directly supervised by the Facilities Section (FAC) Maintenance Inspector.  Responsible for the maintenance of the grounds of the Consulate Office Building (COB), 13 Location, Consul General’s Residence (GCR), all U.S. Government Owned apartments and Government Owned or rented facilities.
  • S/he supervises and trains 14 gardeners in the establishment and maintenance of plants and shrubs; maintains discipline and effectiveness among his subordinates; establishes a budget and works within it; and develops contacts with local nurseries and horticultural supply vendors to ensure the quality of merchandise and competitive prices.

Qualifications and Evaluations  
Education:  

  • Completion of Secondary School education is required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Four (4) years experience is required, including two (2) years of landscape/garden experience and two (2) years of work experience.

Job Knowledge:

  • Must be familiar with the theories and practices of landscaping and gardening services.
  • Must have knowledge of all local plants, trees, shrubs, and their local plant diseases and treatment.
  • Must know how to safely handle and apply fertilizers and pesticides; and how to use landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the local labor, as well as familiarization with local culture, local flora, and local gardening centers and methods is required.

Evaluations:

  • Language: English Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be capable of training or instructing subordinates and supervise work independently.
  • Must be able to perform heavy physical work, have patience and ability to supervise and clearly communicate with supervisors and subordinates.
  • Ability to safely use all gardening tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to read, understand, adhere to and ensure compliance with product and equipment instructions, follow established standard work procedures, safety, health policies, and procedures.
  • Must have basic typing skills and must possess a valid Nigerian driver’s license.

Qualifications:

  • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
